a day for young aspiring change-makers

Are you a student (age 15-22) with an idea that can help people? Let’s plan it out! We're a group of "why-not" local change-makers ready to kickstart your ideas to help your neighborhood.

 

The MAKE THE CHANGE COMPETITION is a 13-hour (8:30 AM - 9:30 PM) competition on April 11th to gather, educate, and challenge young aspiring change-makers to plan out human-centered solutions for local neighborhood problems.



What's Happenin'

 Form a team of 4 people.

Learn from a bunch of cool people.

Identify a problem in your neighborhood.

Brainstorm a solution.

Present your plan to our judges.

Winners get announced.


(Oh, and there's free snacks at all times. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided!)

What Happens After?

Starting your own business and picking the right niche in no time

Your projects don't end here. We provide the learning experiences, tools, community, and mentorship to actualize your community project. If you're interested in making your project come alive during the Summer of 2020, we would love to work with you to make it happen (and get paid to do it!). We'll also be reaching out as well!

Where is it?

The Reformed Church of Newtown in Elmhurst Queens! (85-15 Broadway, Elmhurst, NY 11373) 

Can we form teams?

Of course! You'll have a chance to meet other like-minded change makers and form a team of four people!

Can I form a team with my friends?

Yes, as long as there are 4 members in your team and they've all registered. If you're coming with one other friend, we encourage you to find two more members the day of the event!

Are there rules?

Yup, we'll be following the Code of Conduct found in our registration form.

Does it cost anything?

Nope! This event is totally free! All the food and other supplies will be provided.

What should I bring?

Yourself! And a working laptop and charger. Everything else will be provided by us.

Will there be food?

Yes, there will be FREE

food for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
